I have been teaching elementary grades for 7 years and Kindergarten is by far my favorite place to be. It is pure magic and I am so blessed to work with such amazing families at CCS. Sharing faith and fun with the children and being an everyday HERO is something I look forward to each day! Please contact me if you need anything at all. Lets have a SUPER year!

Miss Hurley:
We are SO lucky to have Miss Theresa Hurley as our full time classroom aide. She is an extremely hard worker who has a TON of experience in early childhood education and also teaches Sunday School at CCS. I have had the pleasure of working with Theresa before when I taught preschool at CCS and now I am thrilled to have her with me this year in all day K. We work so well together and are SUPER excited to make this year special for your super star!

Such a special part of our week! Please feel free to join us for Mass to help our children learn to listen to the Lord and sing His praises!

Here's what we are learning:
We have been really crunching the numbers lately...we want to be able to count to 100 with NO mistakes! Getting a little flashy with our counting as well learning to count by 10s, 5s, and 2s. We are really working hard on our numeral identification from 0-20 and are beginning addition!
Ask me about the days of the week and the months of the year...Oh, and see if I can sing them to you in Spanish too! We also use our letter sound knowledge to help us read those words and put them in order.
We use the smartboard DAILY and are thrilled to have it up and running. What did we ever do without it?
The SUPERstars are READING!!! We have many children that have already met the goal of reading 100 books! There is so much excitement in the classroom, they are all showing a love for reading! We read in small groups, large groups, and individually. We read any and everywhere we can! We have many leveled reading books in the classroom and we are showing the children how much FUN reading is! They are showing so much pride in themselves! Please read at home with your child whether it be long story books you read to them or short age-appropriate books they read to you. Enforce tracking the words with their finger as they read as well as looking for sight words and picture clues to help.
Handwriting/Fine motor control is something we are really working on daily. I ask that you focus with us on the letter of the week and the letters in your child's name initially. It really helps to learn the correct formation and then continue to use it as we build skills and control. Quality practice is much more important than quantity at this age.
Sight words are practiced daily in the classroom but briefly. It will really put your child a step ahead if you can practice these at home as well.
